Cory Angelus is a poor tailor whose only ambition is to get a legal job. He’s unique because he’s never received genetic treatment and no one in his anscestry was genetically designed. Circumstances force Cory into high society, where he flounders until Patrick Bluejule befriends him. Patrick is a highly emotional royal who keeps the dark nature of his political ambitions secret. A figure of Cory’s tragic past brings old fears to the surface and Patrick finds himself in the position of consoler. The two young adults are surprised by the deep bond that develops between them. Cory will never be in a position of power, so Patrick feels it’s safe to grow close to Cory.
